OUTBREAK OF FLU IN LESKOVAC, MEDVEDJA, LEBANE, BOJNIK AND VLASOTINCE

Leskovac, Medvedja – Yesterday, the Department of Public Health Leskovac reported an epidemic of influenza in the territory of Jablanica district to the Institute of Public Health "Milan Jovanovic - Batut". 

"An increase in the number of cases of a flu-like disease was registered in the first week of January.  The number of cases is 1, 477, compared to the last week of December 2016, when 229 patients were registered. Laboratory results of the Institute of Immunology and Virology "Torlak" confirmed the presence of type B influenza B virus," said Aleksandra Nikolic, the Director of the Department pf Public health Leskovac.  

Mostly affected by flu are preschool and school children, with the highest number of sufferers in Leskovac. There are 84 persons suffering from flu in Medvedja.

Due to severe viral infections and an increased number of cases of flu-like diseases, visits to the Leskovac hospital are prohibited.
