ONLY ONE STUDENT ENROLLED IN SOME SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN PCINJ DISTRICT

5. July 2016.

Bujanovac, Presevo - Upon completion of the first round of enrollment in secondary schools in the seven municipalities of Pcinj district, 439 vacancies remained, while fewer than 15 students enrolled in each of 10 secondary school classes, which is the legal minimum for the formation of the class, said Jovica Stevanovic, the Head of the District Commission for Conducting the Final Exam in Secondary Schools.

Mr. Stevanovic said that “only one, two or three students" enrolled, for the first time, in certain secondary school courses in Bujanovac and Presevo.

“None of the students who took the final exam would remain non-enrolled, since a total of 2,490 vacancies had been provided in secondary schools in Pcinj district, while, at the same time, 2,375 students had taken the final exam for secondary school enrollment. There are critical situations, because only one student enrolled in some courses, which means that those courses will almost certainly be closed, "Mr. Stevanovic said.

According to him, at the “Saint Sava” secondary school in Bujanovac, where the classes are held in Serbian, only ten students applied for the "sales officer" course, 12 students applied for the “cook-confectioner’ course, while 13 students applied for the "mechanical technician" course.

At the "Sezai Suroi" secondary vocational school in Bujanovac, where classes are taught in Albanian, only one student applied for the “car mechanic” course, while two students applied for the “locksmith” course.

“There are also problems with the classes thought in Serbian at the grammar school and the secondary technical school in Presevo.  Only three students applied for enrollment in the class thought in Serbian at the grammar school in Presevo, while seven students applied for enrollment in the secondary technical school”, Mr. Stevanovic said.
