ONLINE WORKSHOP "VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND THEIR HEALTH"

8. March 2021.

On the occasion of March 8, the International Women's Day, the EU info point Novi Sad and the EU info point Nis, in cooperation with the Autonomous Women's Center, invite you to an online presentation and discussion on "Violence against Women and their Health". The workshop will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, starting at 7 pm, and will be led by psychologist Tanja Ignjatovic.

Violence against women is a major social problem, threatening women's right to a free and healthy life. Although women most often experience violence committed against them by husbands, intimate partners and other family members, the responsibility to react to violence lies with all members of society, since violence is not a private matter. By endangering the lives of women, violence makes it impossible to achieve general equality, development and peace in society.

Some of the topics that will be discussed include:

  • Living in violence and the consequences for women and their environment
  • Legal mechanisms for the protection of women
  • The impact of violence on women's health
  • Getting familiar with the possibilities of protection against violence

Signing up for the workshop is done by filling in an online form which is available on https://euinfo.civicatalyst.org/registracija

Tanja Ignjatovic, who will run the workshop, is engaged in individual consulting work with women that experienced violence committed against them by men. The main areas of her expertise are gender-based violence against women in intimate partnerships, institutional response to violence against women and domestic violence, child abuse against women mothers who have experienced violence, gender equality policies in educational programs, and the educational system's response to gender-based violence.
