ON COURT UNIT IN PRESEVO AFTER ASSESSMENT OF POPULATION

3. July 2015.

Belgrade – The Minister of Justice Nikola Selakovic said that the assessment of the population of Presevo and Bujanovac would be followed by an analysis of the needs for a potential establishment of a court unit in Presevo.

Responding to Riza Halimi’s question in the Serbian Parliament, Minister Selakovic said that  problems had been defined, as well as the framework within which they would be addressed, at   the meetings which were held between representatives of the municipalities of Southeast Serbia and the Ministry of Justice.

According to him, two of the four items were conditioned by the estimate of the number of inhabitants in the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac.

“As for the selection of judges and lay judges of the Albanian ethnicity, we havecompleted it. Regarding the selection of the missing judge in the Magistrate's Court in Presevo, we have done that, too. What remains to be done is to announce a public competition for the selection of a certified court interpreter for the Albanian language in the area of the High Court in Vranje”, said Minister Selakovic.

When it comes to the equitable representation, the Minister reiterated the issue of controlled employment or of  prohibition of employment in the public sector and stressed that at that point the governmental commission that approved the hiring dealt with the request of the court in Bujanovac for further recruitment of judicial assistants.

“I ‘m confident that we will accomplish that, while we will start implementing what we agreed upon after the assessment of the population”, Minister Selakovic said.
