OBSERVANCE OF THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FACULTY OF LAW IN NIS

A propos of a fifty years’ long existence and operation of the Faculty of Law in Nis, a formal assembly to mark the event was held at the Faculty of Law’s amphitheatre on May 18, 2010. Present at the formal assembly were representatives of many faculties and universities from both the country and abroad, as well as from judicial institutions and local self-governments. Also attending the assembly were numerous friends of the Faculty of Law and followers of the science of the law.

The formal assembly was opened by Prof. Predrag Dimitrijevic, PhD, the Head of the Faculty of Law, who held a welcome speech for participants in the event. Prof. Vesna Lopicic, PhD, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nis, greeted the attendees of the event on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.

Emphasizing the importance of and the efforts that the Faculty of Law in Nis made for the Republic of Serbia by opening its extended department in the municipality of Medvedja, Minister Milan Markovic, the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, congratulated the Faculty of Law on its jubilee. The assembly was also addressed by Milos Simonovic, M.Sc. and the Mayor of Nis.

On the occasion of fifty years’ long existence and operation of the Faculty of Law in Nis, Prof. Predrag Dimitrijevic, the Head of the Faculty, awarded placards to the best students of the 2009/2010 school year, as well as to long-time friends of the Faculty.
