Novi Sad - Novi Sad will send to the Pcinj district, or to the municipalities of Bujanovac, Presevo and Bosilegrad, the aid necessary for fighting against nodular dermatitis, a dangerous infectious disease of cattle known as the "cattle variola vera", which is transmitted by insect bites.

As stated by the Office of the Mayor Milos Vucevic, Novi Sad will send to South Serbia a helicopter or a plane for mosquito spraying, depending on the needs.  15 vehicles with the devices for controlling insects from the ground, preparations for combating insects that are  carriers of the disease, preparations for disinfection that suppress the virus, as well as the people who will operate the vehicles,  will be sent to the affected areas.

Key measures for combating the disease include early detection, prohibition of movement,  prevention of the illegal transport of animals and destruction of the infected cattle.

The City of Novi Sad joins the appeal of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and calls on animal owners to timely report suspicious cases to the local veterinary stations, it was said in a statement issued by the Office of the Mayor of Novi Sad.
