Nis - Serbian music festivals, including Nisville, will change their format this year due to the corona virus, and the Director of this Nis jazz festival, Ivan Blagojevic, says that the number of spectators will probably be reduced.

The holding of music festivals in Serbia during the coronavirus epidemic is one of the topics that the public agrees or disagrees with, while the organizers of Nisville and other festivals reacted, so that they said in a joint letter that it was certain that domestic festivals would not take place in August in the planned format due to the worsening epidemiological situation.

"As an alternative to their complete cancellation, we are considering the option in which the festivals would symbolically take place with several hundred, or if the health situation allows, several thousand people, which is the figure allowed throughout Europe during the summer," it was said in the letter.

The director of Nisville, Ivan Blagojevic, explained that they planned to cancel some parts of the program, but that the festival would certainly be held with a reduced or limited number of visitors, which he called the most probable solution.

The current limit given by the crisis staff is 500 visitors, but Mr. Blagojevic hopes that the situation will improve by August and that a larger number of visitors will be allowed to come to Nisville. But, there will be no cancellation of the festival, Mr. Blagojevic said.

The organization of Serbian festivals states that the tourist and event-related economy is hit the hardest by the corona virus pandemic and that the festivals are threatened with complete extinction, which, they say, would lead to catastrophic consequences for tens of thousands of people who earn their living from them.

That is why they appeal to the state and society as a whole not to allow the complete extinguishment of Serbian events that Serbia is proud of all over the world.
