NIS DOESN’T ALLOW LESKOVAC AND VRANJE TO CLEAR CONSUMER GOODS THROUGH CUSTOMS

27. March 2015.

Leskovac/Vranje/Nis – The management of the Customs Office in Nis refused the request of Leskovac and Vranje for clearance of consumer goods at the customs offices in the two cities on the grounds that they had no staff to do the job and that it wasn’t profitable from an economic viewpoint.

The Governors of Jablanica and Pcinj districts, as well as the Regional Chamber of Commerce from Leskovac, recently launched an initiative for changing the Regulations on Customs Clearance of Goods from Asian and Eurasian Regions for the purpose of reducing the transportation costs of businessmen from Jablanica and Pcinj districts.

“Upon reviewing your proposal, the management of the Customs Office in Niš is of the view that we currently can’t agree with the proposed changes in the provisions of the regulations, since there are no conditions for implementing the measures for supervising the customs nor is the proposal justifiable for an economic point of view”, it was said in the response.

The proposal was submitted to the Customs Administration in the Ministry of Finance, which sought the opinion the Customs Office in Nis. .

The Chamber of Commerce of Jablanica and Pcinj Districts calculated that going to Nis for  customs clearance cost about 1,000 euros per truck.
