NEW PROJECTS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BUJANOVAC – A TRANSFER STATION AND A WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

12. June 2018.

Bujanovac - The municipality of Bujanovac should get a transfer station for the selective separation of waste over the next month, by which a long-standing problem with the disposal of garbage in the city landfill, which does not have the necessary capacity and does not meet the basic standards, would be solved.

“We provided the equipment through the EU’s donation, while we expect the completion of works on the platforms on which the transfer station will be installed in the coming days, so that the transfer station could start operating within a month,” said Saip Kamberi, the Mayor of Bujanovac.

The transfer station will replace the existing landfill, which is a threat to the environment and people’s health year after year. By activating the transfer station, the collected garbage will no longer be disposed of in the landfill, but will be pressed into large containers and transported to the regional sanitary landfill "Meteris" in Vranje.

The municipal authorities are also working on a project of building a wastewater treatment plant. The local self-government will try provide a portion of the funds necessary for the development of project plans through the "EU PRO" program.

"We are trying to cover by the project all local communities whose land configuration allows it. Settlements along the Moravica River, as well as those near Bujanovac, will be included in the collector project for Veliki Trnovac, Rakovac, Srpska Kuca and Bujanovac," Mayor Kamberi said.

The wastewater treatment plant will be built in the vicinity of Bujanovac Spa.
