NEARLY 47 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR 13 PROJECTS

16. April 2014.

Novi Pazar – The Civic Initiatives NGO signed with civil society organizations from Sandzak and South Serbia an agreement on financial and technical assistance with the implementation of public advocacy projects. The agreement was signed by representatives of 13 organizations from Novi Pazar, Sjenica Priboj, Prijepolje, Nova Varos, Bujanovac, Presevo and Vranje.

The projects are focused on the young, while the initiatives for addressing the current issues in local communities, such as transparency in making decisions on the allocation of public space, better communication between the organizations and local self-governments, addressing problems of the Roma community and institutional support for women's entrepreneurship, will be launched through them.

“The job of undertaking project activities, which is rather challenging, awaits you. On the one hand, you are to initiate and run certain processes in your community, and on the other, you are to establish better cooperation with partner municipalities and customers, which won’t be limited to this project, but will continue after the completion of the project "Empowered Youth for Positive Changes in South Serbia and Sandzak”, said Leopold Rollinger, the Manager of the Civil Society and Civic Participation Program.

The overall value of the allocated funds is 46, 923 dollars. Each organization will receive around 3, 500 dollars for implementation of the projects, which will run from April to September this year, including a mandatory provision by the organizations of another 25 thousand dollars from their own financial resources. Public advocacy projects are supported by the USAID, through the capacity building program, which is part of the "Empowered Youth for Positive Changes in South Serbia and Sandzak", with 41,528 dollars, and the Dutch Embassy in Belgrade with 5, 395 dollars.
