MUNICIPALITY OF MEDVEDJA DIGITIZES OLD SONGS AND TOASTS

MedvedjaAt the Ministry of Culture and Information’s call for immaterial cultural heritage, the Tourist Organization Medvedja applied with two projects, which were both approved.   

The first project, worth a total of 300,000 dinars, refers to the digitization of old crafts of the municipality of Medvedja. The project is aimed at identifying and exploring the traditional crafts that existed and still exist in the municipality of Medvedja and at digitizing them as a short documentary film.

The second project, entitled the "Oral Tradition of Medvedja", refers to research and digitization of old songs and toasts sung and used by the people. The project is aimed at saving from oblivion the way of life of our ancestors and everything that the modern time era suppresses and passes into oblivion. All the songs and toasts that the project team manages to collect will be published in an audio format and printed in a book. The Ministry supported the project with 300.000,00 dinars.

Milan Stevanovic, the project coordinator, along with members of his project team and support staff in the field of culture, will, in the coming months, work on the research and collection of the materials for these projects, as well as on the implementation of project activities. The project activities will last until November, while the promotion of projects is expected during the cultural and tourist event the "Evening of Oral Tradition of Medvedja", which takes place in mid-December.
