MR. STANKOVIC: OUTPATIENT MATERNITY WARD IN PRESEVO STARTS OPERATING IN ONE MONTH

27. March 2015.

Presevo – Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, held talks with Ragmi Mustafa, the Mayor of Presevo, on key issues in the municipality and said that the outpatient maternity ward in the municipality would start operating officially in one month. Mr. Stankovic said that the Ministry of Health had approved the employment of 10 midwives and two gynecologists that would work at the outpatient maternity ward, as well as that the gynecologists from the health center in Vranje would provide assistance with the operation of the outpatient maternity ward in Presevo. Mr. Stankovic explained that the only thing that remained to be done was to get the sanitary work permit.  He expressed satisfaction that the outpatient maternity ward in Presevo would finally begin operating, even though it had been completed a year before.

“Even though we waited for a year, the maternity ward will start operating in a month”, said Mr. Stankovic.

He also said that he had talked with Mayor Mustafa about the operation of the local self-government, the renewal of infrastructure, the investments in agriculture and about providing medical treatment to the asylum seekers who enter the territory of Presevo from Macedonia.

“The local self-government and the health center should assist in providing health care to these people, who are often exhausted upon coming to Serbia”, he said.

Mr. Stankovic, along with Mr. Mustafa, talked with residents of the villages of Strezovac and Bukarevac, which are both about ten kilometers away from Presevo.   Around 100 Serbs live in the village of Strezovac and around 1,000 Albanians in the village of Bukarevac.

“The two villages vary in size and infrastructural needs, while unemployment is a problem in both of them”, Mr. Stankovic said, pointing out that the Coordination Body would primarily address the economic issues.

“We need to have projects in order to solve the infrastructural issues”, said the President of the Coordination Body.

It was agreed at the meeting that a road should be built in the village of Strezovac at the beginning of the following year, without which it was cut off from the world. Also discussed was the need of reconstruction of the sewerage system in the village. All the gutters in the village of Bukarevac are clogged, so that it gets flooded after each rain. Therefore, the governmental bodies’ assistance with resolving the issue was promised. Also, Bukurevac has a local football club, which is the only one in the region, so that 11 sets of sports equipment and some footballs were given to it from a donation

Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body, said that the Mayor of Presevo had expressed the wish to talk, in the coming period, about agriculture, especially about the improvement of livestock and about farming land.

“Snezana Boskovic Bogosavljevic, the Minister of Agriculture, will visit the municipality of Presevo and will talk with its residents about their basic needs. We shall find the ways to improve the sphere of agriculture,” said Mr. Stankovic.

He added that a key problem in South Serbia was the functioning of the media, as well as the privatization of RTV Presevo and Bujanovac RTV. The talks on the way of their future operation have already begun and will continue in early April in Belgrade.
