MR. STANKOVIC AND MRS. DJUKIC DEJANOVIC DISCUSSED THE PROBLEMS OF ALBANIANS

30. October 2013.

Presevo - Health Minister Slavica Djukic Dejanovic and President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Zoran Stankovic spoke with the leaders of the Albanian political parties in South Serbia about the problems in the health sector, by which the implementation of the Serbian Government’s seven-point platform for solving the problems of Albanian citizens began.

Health Minister said that it was concluded at the meeting that the health care problems in the three southern Serbian municipalities could only be solved jointly, in cooperation with the local self-governments, the Coordination Body and the international community.

"We  assessed that the problem of the lack of adequate staff and equipment in health care must be jointly addressed, and that chemists can operate as part of the health centers, where they will be independent institutions,  in accordance with the legal regulations", Mrs. Djukic Dejanovic said after the meeting.

She added that no political issues were raised at the meeting and that the reached agreement would be jointly implemented.

Leader of the Democratic Union of the Valley Skender Destani said that he was satisfied with the answers they had received from the Minister of Health, adding that the agreement then remained to be implemented. Mr. Destani also said that under  the agreement and the schedule of constructing the maternity ward in Presevo, it was established that, due to the current lack of personnel, the issue of which would be solved, the health facility could begin operating only at the end of March next year.

Mr. Stankovic pointed out that discussions on the topics contained in the Serbian Government’s platform were successfully held.

"The problems raised by the representatives of the Albanian political parties were considered and  specific deadlines were set, so that these talks are a good start for a better life for all the citizens" he said, adding that the international community was called upon to be involved in these discussions, so that the agreement could be successfully put into practice. The next topic to be discussed is the network of courts of law in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.  Talks on the issue will be held with Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice in Belgrade on Thursday, given that the said topic will be discussed in the Parliament of Serbia, "said Mr. Stankovic.

When asked about the realization of the other points that the Albanian leaders had required, Mr. Stankovic said the following topics would include education and the  functioning of education in those municipalities, then economic issues, while security and other issues would be discussed at the beginning of the following year.

In addition to Mr. Destani, the meeting was attended by Leader of the Democratic Party Nagip Arifi, President of the municipal committee of the Party for Democratic Action in Bujanovac Saip Kamberi, Leader of the Movement for Democratic Progress Jonuz Musliu, Leader of the Democratic Party of Albanians Ragmi Mustafa and MP and Leader of the Party for Democratic Action Riza Halimi.
