MR. ARSIC THE NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR OF MEDVEDJA

13. November 2015.

Medveđa – The councilors of the Municipal Assembly of Medvedja elected the new local management at yesterday's meeting . Two months after the early local elections, Nebojsa Arsic from the Serbian Progressive Party was, by secret ballot, elected the Mayor of the municipality.

19 out of 35 members of the local assembly voted for Mr. Arsic .

“It took a bit longer to establish the local self-government due to our party’s internal problems but now everything is regulated in accordance with the law. It’s time for us to begin working quickly for the benefit of the citizens Medvedja, who are among the poorest in the country, "said Mr. Arsic.

The new ruling majority in Medvedja includes 19 members of the SPP-SPS-PUPS (Serbian Progressive Party-Socialist Party of Serbia-Party of United Pensioners of Serbia) coalition and of the Party for Democratic Action (PDA), which is led by Riza Halimi.

Although the Mayor is a member of the SPP, six of the 16 councilors from the party didn’t vote for him, nor did they attend the session. Due to the split in the municipal committee of the SPP, the central committee of the party recently dissolved the local one.
