MINISTER VULIN AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNHCR, IN PRESEVO

9. March 2016.

Presevo – Aleksandar Vulin, the Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and the Chairman of the Working Group for resolving the problem of mixed migration flows, said in Presevo that Serbia welcomed the Brussels negotiations with all the affected countries on the migrant route, as well as the search for a solution to the refugee crisis.

Minister Vulin, along with the Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees Kelly Clements and the Head of the UNHCR Office in Serbia Hans Friedrich Soder, visited the temporary Reception Center for Migrants in Presevo.

On that occasion, the Minister pointed out that the adoption of concrete measures for regulating the position of migrants and all the countries on the migrant route was expected at the next EU summit, which was scheduled for March 17 and 18.

“We welcome the progress that has been made, but we’re still awaiting the exact measures and that is something that the European Commission and Turkey will need to tell us,” Minister Vulin said and underscored that Serbia would act as it had done until then.

Ms. Clements explained that the Commissariat for Refugees didn’t participate in the talks between the European Union and Turkey, so that she had no insight into the negotiations.

The Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees came to Pesevo to find out about the efforts of the Serbian authorities regarding the issue of the large number of refugees and migrants from Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and other parts of the world affected by the big crisis.

“I'm here with the Minister of Labor, who showed that the authorities in Serbia were willing to help and that the Serbian people were hospitable to those who seek salvation, "Ms. Clements said and added that the Serbian government would have the support of the international institution  she represented.

Minster Vulin wished that women employees at the Reception Center had a nice holiday – the International Women's Day, and presented them with some flowers, while he wished that the visitor from America had a particularly nice holiday and handed her a gift.
