MINISTER VERBIC TALKED WITH THE MAYORS OF BUJANOVAC AND PRESEVO

The Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Srdjan Verbic, PhD, spoke with the mayors of Bujanovac and Presevo, Nagip Arifi and Ragmi Mustafa.

The meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, was attended by Jelena Colic, the Deputy Director of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, as well as by the President of the Municipal Assembly of Bujanovac Jonuz Musliju.

The representatives of the municipalities discussed in the meeting the status of education in that area and outlined the problems encountered in the field of education. Some of the topics discussed included the smooth functioning of schools and school boards, as well as the lacking textbooks in Albanian.

Minister Verbic said that resolving the outstanding issues should be primarily in the interest of the students and in accordance with the law and pointed out that the issue of the education of students in minority languages was a very important one. He said that the drafting of the new Law on Textbooks was in progress, by which the issue of publication of textbooks in the languages of national minorities, as well as those in Albanian, would be better regulated.
