MIGRANTS FROM BELGRADE AND SUBOTICA HEAD FOR THE RECEPTION CENTER IN PRESEVO

17. January 2017.

Presevo – There are currently around 980 people at the Reception Center in Presevo, including over 250 children and the young up to the age of 18.

Valon Arifi, the Head of the "Youth for Refugees” NGO, said that all the conditions for normal life during winter, such as food, health care and heating, fun workshops for children and recreation spots for adults, had been provided to the migrants at the center.

Mr. Arifi said that the number of migrants crossing the border between Macedonia and Serbia had been reduced to a minimum over the previous few weeks, as well as that there were no arrivals on the Bulgarian border, so that the reception checkpoint at Miratovac was no longer operational.

According to Mr. Arifi, most migrants currently come to the Reception Center in Presevo from the area of Subotica and Belgrade, who agreed to take shelter from the dilapidated barracks and parks.

The Commissariat for Refugees said once again that there was enough room at the accommodation facilities for all migrants residing in the territory of the Republic of Serbia. As the Commissariat pointed out, all migrants who were not staying at the asylum centers were exposing themselves to low temperatures and health risks at their own risk.
