MIGRANTS CELEBRATED THE DAY OF THE PLANET EARTH BY A TRIP TO BUJANOVAC LAKE

Bujanovac – On the occasion of April 22, the Day of the Planet Earth, an excursion to the Bujanovac Lake was organized for migrants from the Bujanovac Reception Center and the Bujanovac Red Cross volunteers. There, the migrants and volunteers cleaned up the picnic area near the lake, fished and put up birdhouses in the nearby forest.

Marija Cvetanovic from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said that the proposal to mark the Day of the Planet Earth in the countryside was very welcomed both by migrants from the Reception Center in Bujanovac, the employees of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and those of the Bujanovac Red Cross Branch Office.

“We wanted to do something good for the countryside, so that it would not be just an ordinary excursion. That is why we cleaned up the picnic area and put up birdhouses," Ms. Cvetanovic said.

Muhamed from Iran said that the migrants from the Reception Center in Bujanovac had spent a really wonderful day in the countryside.

“This was an opportunity to spend our time nicely. Today is the Planet Earth Day and it is nice that we did something good for the countryside, that we cleaned up the picnic area. It is our duty to be good to the countryside, " Muhammad said.
