MEETING BETWEEN REPRESENTTIVES OF THE “JUG JEVOSOJE” AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE, ASSISTANT MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE SABAC-BASED DAIRY PLANT

16. June 2010.

At the initiative of the Coordination Body, representatives of the agricultural cooperative “Jug Levosoje” talked yesterday about  increasing the milk  production capacities in Bujanovac with Slobodan Teofanov, Assistant Minister of Agriculture, representatives of the Sabac – based dairy plant and Nenad Djurdjevic, Director of the Coordination Body’s Office. Upon visiting a few households in the villages of Levosoje and Oslare, members of the delegation concluded that there were no potentials for a larger production of milk, which would be repurchased by the Sabac-based dairy plant. With the aim of improving and increasing the regional milk production, it was agreed to visit, in the forthcoming period, four dairies that repurchase milk from the territory of the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo. The Sabac-based dairy plant is willing to meet the wishes of the local producers, to donate lacto-freeze milk tanks and milk storage facilities, as well as to repurchase milk at the price that is higher than the current market one.

The Ministry of Agriculture supported the initiative of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, as well as the willingness of the Sabac-based dairy plant to invest in development of cattle-breeding in South Serbia. The Ministry of Agriculture is going to assist milk producers in these villages with setting the repurchasing price of milk in accordance with the agreement reached with the Sabac-based dairy plant. Slobodan Teofanov, Assistant Minister of Agriculture, talked with members of the agricultural cooperative about this year’s incentive measures in agriculture. He also presented the Ministry of Agriculture’s program and encouraged members of this multiethnic agricultural cooperative to apply for the subsidies that they are entitled to.
