31. March 2014.

Мedvedja – The mayor of Medvedja Slobodan Draskovic and a representative of the "Serbia Sings and Dances to the Rhythm of Europe" organization Igor Karadarevic signed an agreement on the involvement of children from this municipality in this great cultural event.

Over the coming months,  the children from pre-school institutios in Medvedja, as well as those from primary and secondary schools, will be working hard on developimg their singing and dancing performances  for a large joint appearance in Sabac, while it is planned that the Ambassador of Finland to Serbia should be the patron of the municipality.

Мr. Draskovic said that there were several reasons why the municipality had decided to join the said event, in which twenty-five cities and municipalities in Serbia already participated.

“The first reason is that the children from the municipality will take part in the event, which will enable them to demonstrate their talents, but also to tour the world. Another reason for our participation is that  our children, through the exchange, will socialize with other children in the European Union. By doing so, they will see how other people live, "said Mr. Draskovic.

He also said it was important that Medvedja would get from the "Serbia Sings and Dances to the Rhythm of Europe" organization a cultural center, which would later on  be used for all cultural events and by all cultural clubs from the municipality of Medvedja.

"In addition, we will jointly work in the field of economics. The experts of this organization, together with our Office of Economic Development, will develop projects, which we will offer to the EU countries, especially to the country that will be our partner, which is Finland, "said Mr. Draskovic.

“It's great that the kids will enjoy themselves, play and sing with their peers, and this will certainly have a positive impact on adults, "said Mr. Draskovic.

Igor Karadarevic said that the organization operated in the municipalities with which it had a very good cooperation, that they expected the same would happen in Medvedja, and that the event was financed from the EU funds and by sponsors.

He added that ambassadors of the EU countries  actively participated in the event and  that they visited the municipalities and supported the idea.

“The Finnish ambassador visited the municipality Ljubovija seven or eight months ago, while we, now, decided to invite him to the municipality of Medvedja.  The Turkish ambassador, the Austrian Ambassador and the Ambassador of Cyprus are also very active in this regard, "said Mr. Karadarevic.

The children will compete in four categories, including choral and solo singing, folk and modern dance.

The signing of the agreement was attended by the Mayor of Presevo Ragmi Mustafa and the President of  Bujanovac Municipal Assembly Jonuz Musliu, who expressed interest in including  the children from the two municipalities in the event.
