MEDVEDJA HAS FOUND A WAY TO REDUCE YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT

11. March 2021.

Меdvedja - The development of entrepreneurship, investment in tourism, primarily in Sijarinska Spa, and participation in various competitions, conducted by the state, have enabled the reduction of youth unemployment in Medvedja. These days, 25 people with university degrees have got jobs through three projects.

"I do not dispute the advantages of living in the capital city, but the beauty of living in a small environment is when we rely on each other," says 30-year-old Milos Perovic. That is why he returned to his hometown with a degree obtained from the Faculty of Transportation and a life companion.

Shortly after graduating from the Faculty of Law, Valbona Hiseni received her first salary at the Cultural Center in Medvedja.

“My first impressions are good for now. This is also a chance for me to gain work experience", Valbona says.

Milan Vucetic, a graduate economist, is gaining his first work experience at the Preschool Institution in Medvedja.

“I work together with my mentor in the accounting department, so I am satisfied, and I have already received my first salary”, Milan says.

Mladen Simic opted for the trades and started his own business. Through the German organization "Help", along with 14 other citizens, he received funds for the necessary equipment. He says there is enough work for tile setters.

“I got 300,000 dinars through the “Help” NGO. I used that money to purchase all the necessary tools ", Mladen says.

Only through the project "My First Salary" and cooperation with the Center for the Development of Jablanica and Pcinja Districts, which promotes entrepreneurship and tourism, 25 people with university education have been hired.

Young people are also employed through the National Employment Office, non-governmental organizations and ministries’ projects.

“This generation of young people really loves their homeland and Gornja Jablanica and our task and mission is to enable them and provide conditions for them to really stay here, which is in the interest of both the municipality itself and the state of Serbia, "says  Nebojsa Arsic, the president of the Medvedja municipality.

Less than a third of the unemployed in Medvedja are people under the age of 35, and twenty-two of them have university degrees. Full kindergartens confirm that everything is being done for the stay of the youth in the municipality of Medvedja, while a dozen more babies were born last year than in 2019.
