MAYOR ARSIC: VISITS THE AREAS TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY HAIL

Medvedja – A severe thunderstorm accompanied by hail, which, on Sunday afternoon, hit the villages of Negosavlje, Crni Vrh, Bucumut, Gornja Lapastica and Djulekare in the municipality of Medvedja, caused a huge damage to the crops. The storm caused the greatest damage to strawberries, raspberries, potatoes, corn, and other crops.

On that occasion, Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, held a meeting with the farmers whose crops had been damaged. Mayor Arsic said at the meeting that the municipality of Medvedja would provide financial assistance in accordance with its possibilities, stressing that the municipality would make an appeal to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Government of Serbia for providing financial assistance to the vulnerable households.

On Sunday, anti-hail rockets weren’t fired from the stations in Medvedja due to a malfunction of the system for radio communication with the radar center. Over the next few days, the problem will be rectified, so that trained shooters at anti-hail stations could act when hail clouds emerge.
