LANDSLIDES CAUSED IN JABLANICA DISTRICT, ROADS AND BRIDGES THREATENED

15. March 2016.

Medvedja – Heavy rains have caused several landslides in the municipality of Medvedja, so that the roads and bridges are threatened, it was announced at the meeting of the Council of the Jablanica District, which took place in Leskovac.

The most dramatic situation was in Medvedja’s village of Tulare, where the Jablanica River had swept away 20 meters of the wall, which used to protect the former “Inkol” factory.

“We are also worried about the bridges close to the former "Termovent" plant on the Jablanica River, as well as about  the bridge in the village of Macedonce, which is situated in the direction of  Sijarinska Spa, because the level of the local rivers increased, "said Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja.

The Jablanica and Lapasnica Rivers burst their banks on several spots, but the most critical situation was at Medvedja’s village of Negosavlje, more precisely at the Filipovic hamlet, where the water threatened the households.

“Together with members of the Center for Emergency Situations, firefighters and the police we steadily followed what was happening. For the time being, only the planted raspberries are  threatened in the area, "said Mr. Arsic.

Two million dinars were earmarked in the budget of the municipality of Medvedja for flood prevention this year.

“We’ve already done some work. We located the critical spots and when the water withdraws, those spots will be repaired, "said Mr. Arsic.
