KING ALEKSANDAR AND QUEEN DRAGA AT THE BUJANOVAC COMMUNITY CENTER

13. July 2016.

Bujanovac – The play called "The last Moments of King Aleksandar and Queen Draga" will be performed at the Bujanovac community center at 7.30 pm on Wednesday, July 13.

The play was made in accordance with Radomir Putnik’s text, while the dramatization and adaptation of the text were done by actors Mihajlo Stojkovic and Martina Kitanovic.

The play takes place during the last moments of the lives of King Aleksandar and Queen Draga, during the night between May 28 and 29, in the basement of the Old Palace.

The play is about the most sincere moments of two people, who are awaiting death while being closed between four walls. It is also about the lies that are told in order to maintain love, which is one of the reasons for their execution.

Both the play and the text of the play are based on historical facts, while the play isn’t a biographical one, but it is a Serbian tragedy.

“By working on the play, we wanted to find out the truth about the two people who were awaiting death. At such moments, the titles become unimportant, while only the two of them, their truth and love remain", says Mihajlo Stojkovic, the actor.

The play is on the repertoire of the "Bora Stankovic" theatre, and following Vranje and Belgrade, it will be performed in Bujanovac for the third time. It will later on also be performed in Targoviste, Vladicin Han, Surdulica and Vranje.
