2. July 2009.

Lidija Janjic, Chairperson of the Civilian Resource Center and  a member of the delegation from Bujanovac that was on a two-day visit to Zrenjanin, said at a press-conference that Zrenjanin had been chosen as an example of good practice or as a local self – government from which a great deal could be learnt about regulation and bringing of the interest of citizens in the non - governmental sector into line with the interest of citizens in the municipal government, particularly when the points at issue are inter – ethnic relations in a multi-ethnic environment.

Ms. Janjic also said the work of non-governmental organizations was only beginning in Bujanovac, and that she expected that the activities of those organizations, provided that they cooperated with local self- governmental bodies, would contribute to a better regulation of inter – ethnic relations in Bujanovac.
Mr. Nehat Allju, Head of the Common Affairs Department within the Municipal Assembly of Bujanovac, pointed out that this wasn’t the first contact made between the two local self-governments.

He added that citizens of Zrenjanin were open for cooperation and hoped that the same would happen in the field of economy, too.
