“JOINT RESPONSE TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN PCINJ DISTRICT”

The first professional workshop entitled "A Joint Response to Violence against Women in Pcinj District" was recently held in Vranje. The said workshop was organized by the Helpline from Vranje, as part of the program of operation and creation of a regional network of NGOs and institutions to end violence against women in Pcinj District.

The initiative for the creation of a regional network in the field of combating violence against women was on December 9, 2014, signed by around 100 participants in the First Regional Conference on violence against women in Pcinj District, which was organized by the Helpline from Vranje and with the support of the UN - Program for Serbia.

The workshops will be organized for representatives of NGOs and relevant institutions from all seven municipalities of Pcinj district and are intended primarily for professionals from the relevant non-governmental institutions and NGOs who previously attended seminars and workshops on the recognition and prevention of violence against women, which were organized by the Human Rights Committee from Vranje/Helpline from Vranje and their partners, said Ms. Miroslav Despotovic, a lawyer.  

The lecturer at the workshop was Lidija Milanovic, an associate of the Belgrade-based NGO "IDEAS" for the development of the social protection system and one of the experts in the field of working with victims of violence. Ms. Milanovic presented at the workshop the objectives and working methods, as well as the results of cooperation in Pcinj district in the field of ​​protection of women from violence.

According to her, it is very important for all institutions of the system to take part in solving the problem and for the community to get organized, so that assistance in this filed could be provided.
