INSTITUTIONAL GRANTS FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS

The Regional Environmental Center (REC), the Office in Serbia, issued a call for applications for institutional grants to all the interested civil society organizations from Serbia dealing with the protection of the environment and sustainable development.

Institutional grants are awarded under the program of support to civil society in Serbia, implemented by the REC Office in Serbia, with financial support from the Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The program aims to strengthen civil society more effectively, actively and in a gender sensitive manner participate in decision-making and policy-making in the field of environmental protection, take an active part in the process of Serbia’s EU integration and actively monitor the implementation of policies at the local, regional and national level.

Civil society organizations headquartered in the Republic of Serbia are invited to apply for this extensive support, and if elected, they will become beneficiaries of the financial support for institutional strengthening of organizations in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection, but also for specially designed programs for capacity development and improvement of skills and knowledge in many areas. Also, the selected organizations are obliged to organize a network of civil society organizations and to establish a platform for dialogue with the governmental sector.

Under this three-year program, a budget of 800,000 euros has been provided for direct support to the institutional strengthening of CSOs through grants awarded in two calls of 400,000 euros each. The maximum individual grant amounts to 45,000 euros.

The competition for the allocating institutional grants is carried out in 2 phases. In the first phase, all interested organizations can apply by submitting their electronic applications. The second phase of the competition begins with the selection of the inner circle of organizations that will be invited to submit full applications.

Before making a decision about signing up for the competition, please read the text of the call and all the supporting documentation, along with the instructions set out below, so that you could familiarize yourself with the terms and procedures for the allocation of institutional grants. The accurately completed Statement of Interest (in Serbian and English) should be e-mailed to office.coserbia@rec.org by 1 pm on March 14 at the latest. The applications submitted after the said deadline won’t be taken into consideration.
