INSTALLATION OF THE TRANSFER STATION STARTED

11. April 2019.

Bujanovac – Installation of the equipment at the transfer station at the city landfill started on Monday. It should be completed in 20 days and will be followed by works on water and electricity connections.

Most parts and the equipment, which were purchased through donations of around 160,000 euros from EU funds, have already been transferred to the site and the team of installers is already working on installing them in the transfer station.

This facility will replace the existing landfill, since the waste would be sorted and compressed there in order to be transported to the regional landfill "Meteris" in Vranje.

The project, which is supposed to end the perennial ecological threat to Bujanovac and to the surrounding settlements from inadequate landfill and the outdated manner of waste disposal, has already entered the seventh year of implementation, with an investment of around 100 million dinars, mostly from the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac, and Medvedja.

According to Enver Ramadani, the Head of the Development and Investments Department, that was the first phase of works on making the transfer station operational, while water and electricity connections would be done in the second phase.

Mr. Ramadani could not specify when the works would be completed and the transfer station put into operation.

10 million dinars were earmarked in the 2019 budget of the municipality of Bujanovac for the construction of external connections.
