IMPROVING WORKING CONDITIONS OF SOUTH SERBIA’S ROMA COMMUNITY IN THE FIELD OF COLLECTING RECYCLABLES

The project is implemented by the NGO "YUROM" from Nis and is aimed at creating new employment opportunities for secondary raw material collectors by strengthening  the technical and managerial capacity of the  Association of Waste Collectors.  

The project goal will be achieved by building the capacity of members of the Association, providing training courses and mentoring, providing the equipment for  new members of the Association (tricycles and protective equipment), as well as the equipment for common use, such as baling presses, perforators and scales for weighing, which will be used by all members of the Association. Also, there will be conferences and presentations with business partners, local self-governments and other relevant partners, to strengthen the partnership network in the field of recycling and waste management. The target area of ​​the project includes the city of Vranje and the municipalities of Bujanovac, Surdulica and Vladicin Han.  

The implementation of the project, which will last for 10 months, began in December 2013 and it will run until December 2014.
