IMPROVED POWER BILL COLLECTION IN BUJANOVAC

8. December 2014.

Bujanovac - Goran Nikolic, Director of the Electric Power Distribution Company’s branch in Vranje, said that the payment of electricity bills improved in the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac over the previous two months, as well as that electricity theft had been considerably reduced.

Mr. Nikolic said that although there were still problems with reading meters in the households whose members were abroad, there were no major incidents over the previous two months, such as the one that occurred this August, when a resident of Veliki Trnovac assaulted with a metal rod the workers who had come to disconnect his illegally connected electricity.

“The payment of electricity bills in Bujanovac and Presevo has improved; mainly what it spent is paid, while the biggest problems are the losses due to unauthorized connections.  In the area covered by the Electric Power Distribution Company’s branch in Vranje, the losses until October 1, 2014, were 26 percent of the total consumption, to which the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo contributed the most”, Mr. Nikolic said.

According to him, in the area covered by the Electric Power Distribution Company’s branch in Vranje or in the entire Pcinj district, the losses due to illegal electricity connections were 27 percent in the same period last year.
