Olivera Milosevic, the Head of the "Green Key" organization, said that the project began to be implemented in October 2012, thanks to the donation of the “Philip Morris” tobacco company.

The "Eco-Friendly" project is focused on areas where there are lots of tobacco manufacturers, and those are rural areas throughout Serbia. The project will go on for three years, while the first stage of the project is implemented in the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac, or in the villages of Veliki Trnovac Reljan and Buštrenje. “Green Key” members will be working with schoolchildren in these villages, to whom the concept of sustainable development, environmental protection and proper management of waste in agriculture will be conveyed. Also, the working environment of the people who live in these areas will be improved.

At "Muharrem Kadriu" elementary school in Veliki Trnovac, which is attended by around 1,000 pupils, toilets and washrooms will be renovated, as well as at schools in the villages of Reljan and Buštranje.

Coniferous trees were planted in the schoolyard of the "9th. of May" elementary school in the village Reljan, and the children of this school now have drinking water and the water for maintaining the garden and their general hygiene.

Socializing with the children from these schools will take place in late January and early February, by means of organizing quizzes, during which students will answer the quizmaster’s questions.

The "Green Key" NGO wanted to show by this project that all children in Serbia are the same and that the environment should be protected everywhere. “Green Key” members produced a publication on the project, which is entitled “The Sustainable Development”. The publication was published in both Serbian and Albanian. The books were distributed to all schoolchildren in the villages of Veliki Trnovac Reljan and Buštrenje.

The implementation of the project in the above-mentioned three villages is to be completed in late February.
