IDEAS FOR ONE’S OWN BUSINESS

The Coordination Body supported the “Small Steps for Great People” project of the Roma Center for Democracy from Bujanovac. The project gathers together forty secondary school students and unemployed young people from the territory of Bujanovac and Presevo for whom training courses in entrepreneurship and the starting of their own businesses were organized. The training courses were run by experienced trainers of the Business Incubator Center, which is the Coordination Body’s partner on this project. This group of young people was informed of the basic ideas about starting one’s own business through interactive workshops and lessons. They mastered the skills necessary for preparing business plans and attended the classes on management, marketing and sales.

All forty participants in the project, who are young Albanians, Roma and Serbs, worked in mixed groups on preparation of their own business plans. In that way they applied the skills and knowledge acquired at the training courses to concrete ideas. The results of the mutual efforts include five original plans for starting one’s own business. Upon presentation of ideas, the board will select three business plans that are to receive the following rewards: 5,000 dinars for the third, 10.000 dinars for the second and 15,000 dinars for the first place.
