HEALTHCARE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BUJANOVAC

2. October 2015.

Bujanovac – According to Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the Coordination Body will, after the opening of the maternity outpatient ward in Presevo, focus on recruiting people in the health sector, so that each community could meet their needs, as provided by the law.

“What is specially planned to be done in the health sector is that after the termination of restrictions on employment, that is upon the announced getting of employment opportunities for doctors and other medical staff, each environment would be able to meet their needs provided for by the law and in in accordance with the scope of jobs done at the health institutions in those communities, "Mr. Stankovic said

He points out that apart from dealing with the employment issue, the Coordination Body is planning to introduce the provision of specialist services in these three municipalities, such as of physiotherapy in Presevo.

The Health Center, along with its health stations in the villages of Trnovac, Klenike and Biljaca, as well as with its infirmaries in the villages of Breznica, Konculj, Muhovac, Nesalce, Samoljica Ljiljance, Spancevac and Zbevac, operates in the municipality of Bujanovac.

Pediatrician Lela Jovanovic, the Director of the Health Center in Bujanovac, says that the situation in the healthcare sector of the municipality is relatively good, and that the institution needs more workers, new medical equipment and ambulances.

“The current situation is relatively good. We have as many workers as the Ministry of Health allowed us to have. This is the primary health institution that carries out its activities through its departments and that provides almost all specialist services that a health center should provide, "said Director Jovanovic.

Burhan Halili, the former Director of the Health Center in Bujanovac, agreed with the aforementioned assessment of the situation, adding that there was also a problem with a lack of medicines and medical supplies.

“The situation in the healthcare sector in the municipality of Bujanovac is relatively satisfactory.  Sometimes the patients complain of a lack of medicines and medical supplies. However, that problem is not only present in our municipality, but also in the other municipalities in Serbia, "said doctor Halili.

The Health Center in Bujanovac, which includes health stations and infirmaries in the villages, employs 258 workers, of whom 57 are doctors.

“We have 238 workers that are employed for an indefinite period of time, as well as seven workers with whom no employment contracts were concluded. We also have 23 workers employed for a definite period of time, who have been hired since August this year due to the increased volume of work, while their salaries are provided by the local self-government in Bujanovac", said Director Jovanovic.

In addition to the above-mentioned problems, the Health Center in Bujanovac is faced with outdated medical equipment, which, according to Director Jovanovic, should be renewed, as well as with labor shortages.

The Health Center in Bujanovac recently received an ultrasound device, while thanks to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, two modern ambulances were provided to it.
