GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA ANNOUNCED NEW RESEARCH ON PLJACKOVICA

Belgrade – The Government of the Republic of Serbia is willing to assist with the establishment of a national laboratory for investigating the consequences of bombing with depleted uranium during the 1999 war, "said Goran Trivan, Minister of Environmental Protection.

He said in the "Question Mark" program, which was broadcast on Channel 1 of the Radio and Television of Serbia, that NATO had used depleted uranium on four sites in Vranje, Presevo and Bujanovac, "on which a thorough decontamination was done".

“The Government of  the Republic of Serbia is willing to assist with carrying out a research on the bombing in the area of ​​Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo, not only with the establishment  of the national laboratory, but also with undertaking other concrete measures," Minister Trivan said.

According to him, the Ministry of Environmental Protection had sent a letter on the research of the consequences of bombing with depleted uranium to the President and the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

In addition to South Serbia, NATO used depleted uranium, during the 1999 bombing, on ten or so locations in Kosovo and Metohija, too.
