GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN PROVIDES FUNDS FOR DEMINING IN BUJANOVAC

Bujanovac - The Government of Japan will provide 564,500 euros to finance the cost of demining in the territory of the municipality of Bujanovac, more precisely in the area called Turijska brda.  

The area of Turijska brda, which is approximately nine kilometers away from Bujanovac, towards the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija, should be cleared of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and other improvised explosive devices. 

There are two separate minefields at that location, the total area of which is ​​389,200 m2.

The Embassy of Japan estimates that 43,302 residents of the municipality of Bujanovac will be  direct beneficiaries of the project.  

The Grant Contract was signed yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade.

The International Foundation for Enhancing Human Security (ITF), which has been carrying out demining activities in Serbia since 2003, will implement the project in cooperation with the Center for Demining of the Republic of Serbia (CZRS).

The project is funded by the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America, in cooperation with the Center for Demining of the Republic of Serbia (CZRS), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia.
