Presevo - Ljubisa Dikovic, the Chief-of-Staff of the Army of Serbia, visited part of the units of the joint forces of the army and police engaged in securing the border with Macedonia, and said that they had demonstrated great strength and readiness.

It was said in a statement of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia that General Dikovic had said that the Army of Serbia was, if necessary, ready to engage additional forces and resources for securing the country’s border.

Major General Zelimir Glisovic, the Commander of Joint Forces, informed General Dikovic that, as of July 22, over 5,000 illegal border crossings had been prevented.

“The largest number of migrants gave up on illegal border crossings when they noticed the army and police, while 673 migrants, who were caught along with smugglers in human beings, were accommodated at reception centers,” Major General Glisovic said

General Dikovic also visited the Reception Center for Migrants in Presevo, where members of the Army of Serbia are staying, and met with representatives of the Commissariat for Refugees.

During General Dikovic’s visit, a group of ten migrants gave up on illegal border crossing upon noticing the delegation, it was said in the statement.
