ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN "THE RACE FOR A HAPPIER CHILDHOOD"

Bujanovac – The traditional "Race for a Happier Childhood", which was organized, in cooperation with the Red Cross of Serbia, by the Red Cross Branch Office and the "Branko Radicevic" elementary school in Bujanovac, and which had earlier been postponed due to rain, was completed. 197 students of the aforementioned school participated in the race that took place at the sports stadium of the Bujanovac BSK football club. 

“This is the most widespread and widely accepted recreational and humanitarian activity of the National Red Cross Society, aimed at achieving a permanent objective, which is  constant rejuvenation of and an increase in  its members and volunteers. In this way, children and young people show their commitment to a healthy lifestyle and the highest human values," Vlastimir Stojkovic, who is in charge of the program activities at the Bujanovac Red Cross Branch Office, said.

Reminding that the above sporting and humanitarian event was organized in order to improve social and material situation of particularly vulnerable categories of children in the local communities, Mr. Stojkovic said that the funds raised from the sale of the starting numbers would remain available to schools.

The said funds are intended to raise the students’ standard, help poor students and to pay for school snacks. The price of a starting number is 50 dinars. Apart from the “Branko Radicevic” elementary school, the traditional “Race for a Happier Childhood”, according to the Bujanovac Red Cross Branch Office, was also organized at the “Ali Bektasi” elementary school in the village of Nesalce and at the “Vuk Karadzic” elementary school at the village of Levosoje.
