DW ACADEMY: MULTIPLIER PROGRAM FOR 2020 - 2022 (Deadline: June 7, 2020)

As part of the "Young Media" project, the DW Academy is launching a new Multiplier  Program 2020-2022. The DW Academy focuses its activities in Serbia and the Western Balkans on improving informative and participatory media formats (TV, radio, press, online and social media) for children and youth.

The Multiplier Program consists of seminars, workshops and study trips in the country and abroad, which will be held from 2020 to 2022. The goal of the program is for participants to gain knowledge and experience to support the media that offer information contents to young target groups or want to introduce them.

Multiplier training includes elements from different areas:

  • Journalism
  • Mobile journalism (MoJo)
  • Media management and consulting
  • Media law and self-regulation
  • Training methodology
  • Project management
  • New media technologies, etc.

The following trainings are planned for 2020:

  • Introductory seminar - From July 24 to 26 (online seminar)
  • How to address children and young people – From September 12 to 13 (online workshop)
  • Youth Media – From October 5 to 9 (offline workshop)
  • Media business models – From December 7 to 11 (offline workshop).

The training itself is free of charge. Accommodation and travel costs are covered by the DW Academy, while participants commit to participating in all trainings over the next three years and, based on them, develop a manual.

During the program, participants are offered the opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge within other activities of the "Young Media" project. That activity will be remunerated.

The requirements for participating in the Multiplier Program are:

  • Work experience in journalism and/ or PR (minimum 12 months)
  • Active knowledge of English (one part of the training will be held exclusively in English)
  • High motivation and interest in media development and young target groups.

Experience in working with young people (for instance in non-governmental organizations), journalistic experience in media formats for young people, work experience in several types of the media (especially electronic), work experience in an editorial position, training experience and knowledge of the German language will be additionally appreciated. These things are not the requirements, but are desirable additional qualifications that provide additional points when selecting candidates.

All those interested in participating in the Multiplier Program should, apart from the filled in application form, submit the following:

  • Cover letter (maximum 1 page)
  • A short CV showing personal data (including telephone number and e-mail address), work experience in the media, level of English language proficiency and other useful qualifications (maximum 2 pages)
  • Confirmation that they commit to participating in all trainings within the Multiplier Program until 2022 and in working on the manual.
