DENTAL EQUIPMENT AND OVER 100 KILOGRAMS OF SWEETS AND SNACKS SEIZED NEAR PRESEVO

28. August 2020.

Presevo - At the Presevo border crossing, customs officers, in two separate cases, prevented an attempt to smuggle dental equipment hidden under the bed in the truck's cabin, and a few hours later, they also prevented the smuggling of over 100 kilograms of peanuts, chickpeas, cranberries and chocolate candies, which were hidden in another truck.

The dental equipment and materials were discovered during the inspection of the truck with Macedonian license plates, although the 45-year-old driver had told the customs officer that he had nothing to report except 23 tons of metal reels that he was transporting as a truck load.

However, various dental equipment and material were hidden under the bed in the cabin. In the statement given after the discovery of the violation, the driver stated that he had taken the goods over in Skopje and that he should have handed them over to a person in Croatia, the Customs Administration said.

The driver was fined and the seized goods were permanently confiscated.

A few hours later, in another truck, 109 kilograms of various snacks and sweets were discovered. The driver of the truck tried to hide 50 kg of spicy peanuts, 20 kg of chickpeas, 11 kg of dried cranberries and 28 kg of chocolate dragees, the Customs Administration sated.

The complete case was handed over to the Nis customs office for further procedure, while the undeclared goods were temporarily confiscated.
