DEADLINE FOR SETTLING ELECTRICITY BILLS EXTENDED

6. April 2016.

Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja - Milorad Grcic, the Acting Director General of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia said that crowds at post-office counters would be lesser in the future, because the deadline for getting a five percent discount on settling electricity bills was extended to the 28th. day of the month.

Mr. Grcic said that it was noticed that crowds in front of the counters where citizens paid their electricity bills were large, especially on the 25th. day of the month, the date which, until recently, had been the deadline for obtaining the discount.

“So far, the Electric Power Industry of Serbia gave the discount until the 25th day of the month, while pensioners received their retirement pensions until the very same date. That is why they tried to settle their electricity bills on the same day, in order to get the discount, so that long queues were formed”, Mr. Grcic said.

He pointed out that citizens were the most important and largest category of customers of that public company, and that the highest percentage of them paid their electricity bills on time.

“That's why I initiated the extension of the deadline to the 28th day of the month, so that they could have three days to settle their financial obligations and simultaneously get a five-percent discount, and the Supervisory Board of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia approved the initiative," said Mr. Grcic.
