CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW PIPELINE IN PRESEVO BEGINS WITH THE SUPPORT OF NORWAY

19. March 2021.

Presevo – The construction of a new pipeline has started from the pumping station "Žujince" to the reservoir "Loši izvori" in Preševo with the support of the Kingdom of Norway, and through the project "Norway for You - Serbia". The works that are worth 620, 000 euros will be completed by September 2021, thanks to which 13, 000 inhabitants of Presevo will get a more reliable water supply system.

“This is a very important project for the development of the infrastructure of the municipality of Presevo, which has had a longtime challenge with water supply. With the support of the Kingdom of Norway, the reconstruction of the Žujince pumping station in Preševo, which is part of the system, was previously successfully completed", said project representative Milica Došenović.

According to the project, the construction of the pipeline is divided into three sections, with a total length of about six thousand meters. When connecting the new pipeline, there will be interruptions in the water supply, about which the competent services will inform the users in a timely manner.

It is also said that the Kingdom of Norway set aside 430, 000 euros for the execution of these works, while the Municipality of Presevo, through the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, provided 190, 000 euros.

The project "Norway for You - Serbia" aims to contribute to a balanced socio-economic development in Serbia by increasing employment opportunities, especially of vulnerable and marginalized groups.

The project also participated in strengthening the healthcare system in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is funded by the Kingdom of Norway with 8.7 million euros.  Field activities are carried out by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
