CALL FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS FROM THE WESTERN BALKANS

18. November 2019.

A call for civil society organizations from the Western Balkans is ongoing.

In order to help the Western Balkans region become a zone of stability and security through the implementation of reforms within the European integration process, and with a focus on strengthening the rule of law and economy of these countries, civil society has been recognized as a significant driver and promoter of reform processes through the project Strengthening the EU Integration in Northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

By this call, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade and the Balkan Trust for Democracy of the German Marshall Fund (BTD) continue to support European integration and reform processes in Northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. Support is provided for almost a third of the areas that need to be reformed to help these countries become full members of the European Union.

The project provides support for activities related to the most important negotiating chapters - the rule of law and judiciary reforms (Chapter 23), the creation of the space of justice, freedom and security (Chapter 24), as well as public procurement reforms (Chapter 5), competition policy (Chapter 8), the information society and media (Chapter 10), energy (Chapter 15), environmental protection (Chapter 27), common foreign and security policies (Chapter 31) and financial controls (Chapter 32).

Support is divided into three groups, depending on the type of activities and the actors implementing them, or whether they are individual civil society organizations or coalitions/ networks of organizations.

The implementation of the activities of organizing strategic events/rallies and initiatives in these areas of reform are supported by a funding of 20,000 to 200,000 euros for 6 to 24 months.
