CALL FOR "CITIES IN FOCUS 2019"

As part of the “Cities in Focus” program, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia announced a competition called “Cities in Focus 2019”, which gives the opportunity to local self-governmental units (SGU) to improve their cultural capacities and cultural offerings in cooperation with the institutions, arts and other associations registered for performing cultural activities, as well as other cultural subjects. The selected SGUs will take the title - The City in Focus, which will enable them to be recognized as the relevant national centers of cultural development and in this way become more visible on the cultural map of the Republic of Serbia and Europe.

The subject of the call is to encourage local development through the support of the annual programs of cultural activities implemented in the territory of the selected SGU. The annual proposals of the SGU program should be submitted in the form of the documentation necessary for the call - the project.

General objectives of the program are the following:

1. Improving the area of culture and art in local communities;

2. Enhancing cultural life;

3. Encouraging the development of creativity and cultural diversity;

4. Recognizing the specificities of cultural identity and sustainable development of the local community.

The “Cities in Focus” program will contribute to achieving the goals of the Ministry related to the establishment of a cultural policy that includes contemporary creativity, cultural industries, the protection and promotion of cultural heritage, as well as the promotion of regional and international cooperation.

The applicant is exclusively SGU (city or municipality).

When choosing SGU, equal regional representation will be taken into account.

Applications must be submitted on the application form and forwarded in printed and electronic form to the Ministry within 33 days from the date of the issuing of the call.

The submission of applications for the call runs from December 17, 2018 until January 18, 2019.

The decision on the selection of projects and the amount of allocated funds will be made by March 15, 2019 at the latest.

The results of the call will be posted on the official website of the Ministry.
