CALL FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH TO APPLY FOR THE OMBUDSMAN’S PANEL OF YOUNG ADVISORS (DEADLINE: MAY 31, 2019)

The Ombudsman invites girls and boys aged 13 to 15 with residence in the territory of the Republic of Serbia to apply for the participation in the Ombudsman’s Panel of Young Advisers.

Membership in the Panel of Young Advisers is renewed in 2019 with new male and female members of elementary school age and, and therefore, the Ombudsman extends to the children, who are students of the sixth and seventh grade in the 2018/2019 school year, a public invitation, which will be open until May 31, 2019. The public invitation has been posted on the Ombudsman’s website and sent to all elementary schools in Serbia and to all social protection institutions where children are staying.  

The Ombudsman's Panel of Young Advisers has been in existence since 2010 and it consists of thirty young children and young people from all regions of the Republic of Serbia, who are elected by a public invitation for a period of two years. The Panel is a form of permanent participation of children in the work of the Ombudsman and its main role is to convey to the Ombudsman the themes that are important for children and young people, to point out the problems children face, to present the views, ideas and suggestions of children and to raise issues that are of importance for improving the position of children and youth in Serbia.  The number of young male and female advisors is permanent, while new members are elected periodically or as needed.

Male and female members of the Panel will be elected according to the following principles: proportionate regional representation, equal number of boys and girls and representation of children from vulnerable social groups.
