16. December 2016.

Bujanovac – Upon participating in 12 workshops on children’s rights, OP3 and activity planning, a group of 20 young people were awarded certificates of the successfully completed training.

Participants in the workshops on children's rights were, on behalf of the Civic Initiatives NGO, welcomed by Fismir Jahiu, a local project coordinator and workshop trainer. They were also addressed by Danijela Stojiljkovic, a trainer and mentor, who spoke about the importance of continuous learning and education in the field of children's rights.

The aim of those workshops was the acquisition of knowledge and skills on children’s rights by children and the young, so that they could become protectors and defenders of children’s rights in their communities.

The children listened to the lectures in the following fields: Introduction to the Concept of Children’s Rights; The Convention on the Rights of the Child; The Right to Life, Survival and Development; The Tight to Non-Discrimination; The Right to Protection from All Forms of Violence, Abuse and Sexual Exploitation; The Right to Privacy and the Right to Freedom of Expression; The Right to Participation and Other Rights under the Convention; The First and Second Optional Protocol; Third Optional Protocol; Mechanisms for the Protection of Children's Rights at the Local and National Level; Advocacy Campaign and Activity Planning.

In the spring, the training beneficiaries will launch a local campaign aimed at developing a mechanism for the protection of children's rights at the local level. They will also undertake the activities related to the ratification of OP3 at the national level.

The "Children's Rights in Stories and Practice” project is implemented by the Association for Development of Children and Youth - Open Club, in partnership and cooperation with six organizations from Eastern Serbia, with the support of the EU Delegation to Serbia.
