BROCHURE WITH THE EXAMPLES OF GOOD PRACTICE IN THE FIELD OF ACCESSIBILITY PUBLISHED

The Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with the Protector of Citizens and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, prepared a brochure on the Award for Contribution to the Development of All Forms of Accessibility in 2019.

At the end of 2016, the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team, the Protector of Citizens and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities established an award for local self-governmental units that contributed the most to the development of all forms of accessibility in their territory.

The aim of the Award is to promote examples of good practice and public praise for the activities of local self-governments that lead to the improvement in urban environments, so that they become accessible, safe and pleasant for all citizens. The goals of this initiative are also to determine the situation in the field of accessibility and the reasons why the regulations guaranteeing the rights to accessibility of public facilities and services to persons with disabilities and difficulties in movement or communication are not fully applied, as well as to formulate recommendations and plans for improving the situation in this area.

We hope that the initiatives presented in this brochure will serve as inspiration to decision makers, experts and representatives of civil society organizations to improve their practice and provide an inclusive environment that responds to the needs of different population groups.
