BOTH CHILDREN REFUGEES AND MIGRANTS IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN PCINJ DISTRICT

16. April 2018.

Presevo, Bujanovac, Vranje - According to the School Administration data, 92 migrant school children from the Middle East, who are, along with their parents, accommodated at one of the reception centers for refugees, currently attend, together with their peers from Serbia, primary and secondary schools in four municipalities of the Pcinj district.

Of that figure, secondary school is attended for the first time by the children who are accommodated at the Reception Center for Refugees in Presevo, where grammar school is attended by two students, as well as the children who are staying at the Reception Center for Refugees in Bujanovac, where two more migrant children attend classes at the "Saint Sava" secondary vocational school.
The largest number of migrant children, 88 of them, are enrolled in five primary schools in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac, Vranje and Bosilegrad and this figure is slightly higher compared to the one from December last year, when primary schools in the municipalities were attended by 77 refugee and migrant children.

Since September 2017, a variable number of refugee children have attended classes in primary schools "Vuk Karadzic" in Presevo, "Branko Radicevic" in Bujanovac and "Georgi Dimitrov" in Bosilegrad, as well as in the "Svetozar Markovic" and "Radoje Domanovic" schools in Vranje, and their number depends on the current number of refugees and migrants at the reception centers in those cities.

Also variable is the number of children who attended secondary schools until the end of last year, so that a few children from reception centers, until sometime ago, attended classes at the secondary school of agriculture and the secondary school of economics in Vranje, where there are currently no such students.

According to the data of the Office of Leskovac School Administration in Vranje, there have been no problems with the children from the reception centers for refugees who attend regular classes, while transportation from their schools to their reception centers is provided to all of them.
