BEST SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM PRESEVO, BUJANOVAC AND MEDVEDJA VISITING BELGRADE

This is the fourth year in a row that  the best  secondary  school students from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja have received scholarships from the Coordination Body. The Coordination Body’s scholarships, amounting to 6,000 dinars per month each,  were received by 231secondary school students – 129 of them from Presevo, 78 from Bujanovac and 24 from Medvedja.  When awarding the scholarships, priority was given to the children without one or both parents.

State scholarships were presented to them at the Serbian parliament by the Chairman of the Administrative Committee ,Zoran Babic, Minister of Education ,Zarko Obradovic, and President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medevedja, Zoran Stankovic.

While awarding the scholarships, Chairman of the Administrative Board, Zoran Babic, told the scholars that that was an important step towards receiving a better education and assured them that they would always have friends and interlocutors at the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. 

Apart from the congratulations, they also received from  Minister of Education a message that the aid should be an incentive for their further education.  

"Things that you’ll learn in school will be your greatest assets throughout your lives, because education opens the door not only to a better life, but also  to the understanding that education can be beneficial to you, your family, your town, our country, so  tha we could become more successfull and accomplished  than we are now“, Minister Obradovic said. 

The Coordination Body’s priorities are to provide better conditions for the education of the young and to make it possible for them to stay in the three municipalities in southern Serbia. 

“As a man who comes from a similar environment, I was fortunate that the state had helped me to get educated and to gain a great experise, so that I now feel committed to providing to all of you a better environment for learning, education and advancement in life", said the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, Zoran Stankovic.

Upon the Serbian Parliament, the scholars were the guests of the City Hall, where they were greeted by the City Secretary for Children and Social Care and Education, Ljiljana Jovicic, who wished them success in learning and further work, and who pointed out that many things in life can be taken away from them, but not their intellectual property, because it is immeasurable in terms of material wealth.

Welcoming the scholarship holders, a member of the City Council, Milena Bicanin, told them that they should learn because knowledge is useful, and that they should improve their knowledge, because in that way they would do good to themselves and their community.  

On behalf of the Coordination Body, President of the body, Zoran Stankovic,  thanked the City Council and expressed the hope that such meetings would become a regular practice and that they would include socializing, sports events and familiarizing with the sights of Belgrade.

After visiting the City Hall and learning about the history of the building, the scholars had the opportunity to visit  an exhibition at the Museum of the Yugoslav History and the White Palace.
