BELGRADE FACULTY OF PHILOLOGY CONSIDERS THE POSSIBILITY OF OPENING THE DEPARTMENT OF ALBANOLOGY IN BUJANOVAC

Bujanovac, Belgrade – Belgrade University (BU) will consider the initiative to open a branch of the Department of Albanology of the Faculty of Philology in Bujanovac, said Ragmi Mustafa, the President of the National Council of Albanians (NCA).

He recently sent a letter containing that initiative to the Rectory of BU, the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Philology, and together with the Head of the Department, Professor Naila Imami, he stated that the opening of the department’s branch in Bujanovac would be "more than desirable".

Mr. Mustafa published a letter he received from the Faculty, stating that he would "thoroughly discuss the possibility of implementing this initiative with the leaders of the BU."

Mr. Mustafa stated that young Albanians from Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja did not study in Belgrade for numerous reasons, primarily "due to stigmatization and the distance from the three municipalities to Belgrade", so that the opening of the department’s branch would be more than welcome.
