BEEKEEPING DAYS: BUJANOVAC HONEY IS PRICEY, BUT ALSO A TOP- QUALITY ONE

17. December 2019.

Bujanovac – The event “Beekeeping Days” opened at the Bujanovac Cultural Center. It was organized by the local self-government and the Apicultural Association, and it brought together some twenty exhibitors.

Zoran Aleksic says that beekeeping has been part of family tradition in the village of Levosoj for 40 years.

“In addition to honey, we also produce propolis, as well as honey with plant supplements intended primarily for immunity or against bronchitis. We are here to exchange experiences, to see who has something to offer, "Mr. Aleksic said.

“Bujanovac honey is of high quality, but it is also significantly more expensive than in other parts of Serbia”, says Predrag Markovic from the Permanent Working Group on Rural Regional Development of the countries in the region.

"Despite numerous problems, beekeeping in Bujanovac has a perspective because local beekeepers are beginning to receive subsidies," Mr. Markovic says.

The event was supported by the German GIZ organization and the Permanent Rural and Regional Development Group.
